Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween always goes so quickly! I even took off early today so that I could pick the kids up from school and get a jump on the costumes. As usual we had a great evening. With the delay of the day light savings change it was lighter than usual, I don't think we even got any trick or treaters at our house until after 5:30pm.

I caught this alien in my dirty kitchen trying to steal our candy!! Check out his hands, weird! (those handmade gloves were the highlight of Dan's Halloween).

I actually got to pass out candy this year for a little while. I let the kids walk around our neighborhood on their own. They thought that was a big thing!

Devil. Diva. They all start with a D, lol. She made a great little devil.

I think I've created a monster with those false eyelashes. She loves them. She wanted to leave them on, i had to insist that they come off. I did not tell her they are reusable or I'll be gluing those things on her every weekend!

My ever patient alien... he actually scared a lot of little trick or treaters this year with his costume. One little girl wouldn't come up to the door, so he lifted his mask so she could see he was just a boy. isn't that sweet! Now what shall we be next year?

sleepy sarah

My pooped pooch. This was Sunday afternoon. We had such a busy weekend, Sarah couldn't keep her eyes open. Normally I can't get this close without her rolling over because certainly I must want to rub her belly if I'm that close to her! She is a good dog. (update: sarah is a bad dog. she just got in trouble for putting her head in the litter box. what the hell is wrong with that dog!)

Katie update:
Kate is holding her own. I think the shots on Friday gave her a boost and she felt really good that evening (I was so thrilled to see her eating so spontaneously). Sunday and today she's back to being pretty low key. Still more alert than she was late last week, but I don't think she's out of the woods yet. We've thrown away all the food that was in the house and bought new, they both much prefer the regular old Purina to the science diet though... so we'll see how this week goes and keep giving her her meds (which she hates). I don't think you're suppose to pray for animals but at least keep her in your thoughts, she's a darn good cat.

You don't know what you've lost until it's gone...(cliché but true!)

I'm mourning a loss right now. It's kind of a delayed reaction I guess. I would have thought I'd have felt it sooner (maybe it's PMS bringing my feelings to the top). I must admit though it's not as bad as it could be. I was protected some what, not completely but at least I wasn't left totally vulnerable and hurting. (I didn't cry too much) Right now I'm mostly feeling the pain of having to start again. It comes down to trust (doesn't everything?) and it will be hard to trust again. You would think I would learn, it's not like is the first time things have gone down the crapper. Not the first time I've felt betrayed and cheated on.

So as I build this new "relationship" I need to remember that I am in control not the other way around, (not this time!) I will keep my walls up, keep myself protected. I will not get so giddy and caught up in it this time. I can be happy without be reckless.

*************************************************

ok I digress... yesterday was my Tastefully Simple Party. What a blast!! Thank you to everyone who came and thanks to Brenda! I'm excited to get my order now! (all though I have a few bites of Nana's apple cake left for today!!) I realized when I downloaded my pictures last night that I got no shots of the great group of gals at the table. All of my pictures have babies in them! Tom had those boys memorized that's for sure.

The jig is up!

Meet Stella (aka Oreo, aka bandit) I can finally introduce Stella Cat to you as Grandma has discovered our furry little secret, lol! We took Stella in as a favor to a very good friend who has determined that she is allergic (not allergic enough that she won't dope herself up with antihistamines so she can still come and visit me though! thank goodness!!). And what a nice cat, sadly she makes Kate look bad as she is so friendly and purrs any time you even talk to her. Technically Stella is a boy cat but you know in our house that's really irrelevant so we thought it fitting to give her a girl name. The kids love that she will lay down with them or sit on their lap. And Stella and Sarah are getting along better every day.

late night....

so i'm trying to go to sleep, i swear i am. the lights are off, i'm not reading my book, i'm not watching tv... i've been laying there for like 20 minutes.... the fan is softly humming in the background (that's good, i like a little white noise). then i've got sleep apnea boy next to me, whirling and whooshing, and buzzing away (that's making it a little hard to fall asleep). sarah is laying on my feet and she starts to dream (probably of running free after she re digs the hole under the fence for the 10th time) and she starts shaking and whining (now i know i'm not going to get to sleep). this is the point where i start to giggle.. then i find it hard to stop giggling... my bedroom, which should be my place of solitude and peace has become a mass of twitches ticks and snorts(this is so typical my life). so i figure screw it and i get up.
so i'm catching up on the headlines on msn and come across Ellen DeGeneres tearful story of her rescue doggy gone wrong and in trying to find out a little more i run across the following quotes from Ellen. now let me say that at this late hour these were cracking me up, i'm sitting here laughing out loud by myself (i know, that is not really that unusual). I hope they brighten your day (or night) as well... ok, off to find a quieter place to sleep...

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the hell she is.

Procrastination isn't the problem, it's the solution. So procrastinate now, don't put it off.

Stuffed deer heads on walls are bad enough, but it's worse when they are wearing dark glasses and have streamers in their antlers because then you know they were enjoying themselves at a party when they were shot.
Ellen DeGeneres

The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren't any space aliens. We can't be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we're not all there is. If so, we're in big trouble.
Ellen DeGeneres

I don't need a baby growing inside me for nine months. For one thing, there's morning sickness. If I'm going to feel nauseous and achy when I wake up, I want to achieve that state the old fashioned way: getting good and drunk the night before.
Ellen DeGeneres, My Point and I Do Have One

I'm a godmother, that's a great thing to be, a godmother. She calls me god for short, that's cute, I taught her that.

The way I see it... If you need both of your hands for whatever it is you're doing, then your brain should probably be in on it too.

Flag Football

This is Dan first year for flag football. Their first game was 10-7, he was pretty low energy, but they won and he walked around home whistling we are the champions all afternoon. This Sundays game he was much more energetic, going after the ball a little more. Funny we went from about 90 degrees & high humidity on the 7th to mid 50's rain & windy yesterday. That's good ole Iowa weather for you!

Scrapbook Shower 10-6-07

Denise hosted a Scrapbook Baby Shower for Raji on Saturday the 6th (just in time!). We had delicious food to eat and got some pages done for Raji. All she has to do now is stick the pictures down and do some journaling. We all had a lot of fun. Poor Raji was not feeling the best though, by noon we were timing her contractions.

Welcome baby!

Raji had her baby 10/10/07 11:45am. 6lbs 20 inches. He is just beautiful. Jodi & I went up at lunch and then I stopped up again after work and just sat and held him for about 20 minutes. He slept the whole time I was there.

Saturday night

I was almost going to say "a typical Saturday night for these feet" but that's probably not true. Come to think of it I can't think of the last time we all sat down to watch a movie (one of Dan's favorite things to do) as a family! It was nice to kick back for a little while last night.
Odd though that in October these feet aren't covered with socks and slippers, maybe even a throw blanket. It was 90 degrees today, record highs. Where is fall? Hopefully today is the last of the heat and it will start cooling down, the leaves can get to changing and I can get outside for some great fall pictures!

Worth the wait

It make a bit for this to load depending on your connection. You can click on each picture to make it a little bigger, if you want to read the journaling.
Enjoy!

Done!!!!

It's done! My A to Z Album is done!! I finished the last two letters (U & Y) last night about 9:30pm. So it took me exactly 7 days. It was last Wednesday night that I created the first page (the letter D) and finalized all of the layout details (clean and simple).
When I was at the Jordan Creek Archivers a couple weekends back, the lady checking me out asked me what I was working on. I told her I was starting an A to Z album. "Oh those are harder than they look" she said "they are fun to start but hard to finish." Obviously she didn't realize who she was talking to, lol. I took that as a personal challenge, I assured her I had a handle on the project and that it would be finished in a timely fashion! AHA!
It was a great project, I thoroughly enjoyed putting it together and gathering all the photos. It's not in it's finally resting home, I need to pick up a new 9x9 album (black preferably) and I need to get some extenders (because it's too tight now). I'm also going to do an intro page and maybe a closing page, but those will come.... stay tuned! as soon as I get some free moments (yeah right!) I'm going to post pictures of all 26 pages (i predict they will be up by the end of the weekend!).
