you know what i love?

My kids. They have been so stinking good today! We all went to Lone Star for lunch today with a big group of friends. They were so well behaved and pleasant, even I was impressed. After we got home I went upstairs to read my book (well I may have had my eyes shut for a little bit) and Tom went out to the shop to work on his moms Durango. Late in the afternoon I hear Tom yell up the steps to Wav and ask if she wants to go along with him for a test drive in the Durango .
She immediately replied "Can Dan go?"
Tom said "no only one of you can go"
Wav said "just a sec" and she ran into Dan's room where they had been playing for the past three hours (I kid you not, at least three hours of healthy, cooperative, interactive actual playing (not video games)) and said
"Dan do you want to go for a ride with dad. Only one of us can go?"
he said "no you go."
This warmed my heart, (a) that the first thing she thought of was sharing her good fortune with her brother and (b) that he conceded to let her go without so much as an attitude. Now if they could just get along like that all the time, lol!! oh heck I'd settle for just on the weekends. I love it when they amaze me with their kindness and their generosity, makes me feel like Tom & I are doing something right. Raising good decent human beings. Can't ask for much more than that.

Waverly turns 8!

Hard to believe 8 years ago my baby was born... she is growing up to be such a nice young lady.

The ipod shuffle was a big hit! Granted you can't talk to her any more because she can't hear you. I was thinking about the influence I had as I was loading songs on to it for her, Oh the power! I tried to make it well rounded and somewhat age appropriate. Like I left off Ani diFranco Untouchable Face but put on Joyful Girl. Lots of good strong female voices on there!!!

Thanks to the bakery at Target for the great cake!! We all though this was just about the cutest thing ever!! And tasty too!!

just a couple more I had to post.....

Finally some sunshine! What a beautiful day we had (are having) today. Wav & I went to church this morning then headed over to Denise & Jason's. Those little boys are so much fun to play with!! We had a delicious lunch then went up to the park for a little while to play.

It was definitely a kid weekend! Saturday I got to see Jodi's nephews and of course Claire. She's always so happy to see me, lol!!!

April Showers....whatever.

I made these great frozen fruit treats today (thanks Natalie!!). Don't they just look like something you should eat on a hot sunny summer afternoon? That definitely does not describe today in Iowa. Rain Rain & more Rain! We all suffered through the long sunless winter, now we seem to be battling through a sunless spring too... eventually it must stop... right? Until then I guess I'll be getting my rays from Tan world!!
We finished up shopping for Waverly's birthday today and we got her cake order (oh she is just going to go crazy when she sees it!) now I need to get her gifts wrapped while she is at Grandmas. They are taking their annual "birthday" shopping trip tomorrow. Funny I still came home with two kids though, lol! Speaking of which I'd better go feed them! Happy Friday!

My Kind of Night

Oh is it really spring time? It is so beautiful outside and here in my protected backyard it's not as windy. Tom's out in the shop, for the first time in a long while. I was looking through splitcoast trying to get inspired, Wav is kicking the soccer ball around the yard and Dan is hitting nerf golf balls (they are coming a little too close to my head if you ask me). I hear the rain is supposed to start tomorrow again so I shall enjoy this evening outside...

Cheese!!

When I said I was making a cheese cake I know that my little Dan was thinking cheddar, mozzarella, colby jack. He was all excited to help me make it and then bugged me all night, "when are we going to eat the CHEESECAKE???" I knew he wouldn't like it. Not Mr. Vanilla Ice Cream. Not Mr. Peanut butter sandwich. But I didn't want to discourage him.

He tried a little tiny bite and made all kinds of faces. I asked him if he liked it, he said:
"Well, I'd eat it but it's not top on my list."

Amber all the way baby!

The kids and I headed over to Grundy tonight to see Horton Hears a Who. It was great! On the way over Wav mentioned that tonight was the final episode of Rock of Love (we don't watch regularly but have caught a few shows). We were slightly bummed that we were going to miss it but figured we'd catch it on re run. When we got home Dan jumped online to see if he could find out who won. He was looking on the guide on line and said:
"what would it be under? like comedy, educational, drama. Oh i bet that's it, drama" Oh he's so smart!!!! At 9:20 we realize it's still on so of course go running to the tv room to catch the very last bit of it. I knew Amber was going to win, she was the only "normal" one there and I use that term loosely. I got tired of trying to understand Daisy through her collagen thick lips and that fact that her false eyelashes seemed to be holding down her eyelids was just distracting. We'll see how long Brett & Amber make it.

I got to do a little scrapbooking this weekend. Here's Sarah keeping me company.

These pages are from my trip to Des Moines Thursday. Oh we had a great time!! I had to steal all the Cirque Du Soleil pictures off the internet as they did not allow cameras into the show. And of course the fun picture of Shari & I in front of the capital. Gotta love the self timer feature on my little camera!

And here is my April Slice of Life page. I LOVE it!! I only had one piece of that plaid paper so I had to go out and pick some more up on friday. The journaling and photo were all done on photoshop so my page is beautifully flat! this is by far my favorite SOL page so far. I picked up the cute little plate holder with the stars, that you see in this picture, at Coach House Gifts in Valley West Mall.
Off to do more laundry before I head to bed. Hard to believe the weekend is over already.....

2nd Grade Play

Waverly was the Narrator for her class production of "The Kankan Tree". She looked absolutely lovely and did a fantastic job! She spoke very clearly and concisely!!! We are very very proud of her.

Dan has a new fascination with our camcorder. Heck I'm just glad it's getting some use again. Tom & I sat in the third row and Grandma sat right behind us. Dan realized that he couldn't really get a good angle so he stepped to the back so he could shoot standing up. This is what I found when I went to watch the tape. Granted this scene comes up after about 5 minutes of him filming the cat at home.

I love it when he say "ridiculous".

Banter, Love & Wrestling

This was the conversation I over heard this morning as Dan & Waverly passed each other on the steps.

Waverly: Good morning Dan! (in her sing songy, cheerful morning voice)
Dan: I despise you. (he grumbled)
Waverly: Why? (in an inquisitive sweet tone she asked)
Dan: I don't know, I just do.

I'm in love. Don't worry I've already warned my husband (funny he didn't even act surprised, lol). My lower back has been aching since the 30th. I finally decided I couldn't take it any longer and made an appointment with our local chiropractor (who came highly recommended). It's been years since I've been to a chiropractor, most of the time my back just quits hurting.... well let me tell you, I walked out of there feeling fabulous! I swear I must be a half an inch taller! Anyway I was very impressed with the results and can't wait to see him again, Thank you Dr. Clark!

He may be a little guy but he can still take his sister down!

Never a Dull Moment!

Never let it be said that the Robinett's are sedentary and dull! We've had another fun filled weekend. The boys had Saturday to themselves and from the sounds of it had a great day. They went to the arcade and down to the range to shoot and then to a movie. Wav & I went to Coralville with Jodi, Claire & Maxine. It was an early birthday shopping trip for Waverly. She thoroughly enjoyed our time at Build a Bear (as did I). And we left with a very nice limited edition WWF cheetah who was dressed for the day! Wav & I shopped around and found a few more things we couldn't live without (she was so patient while I tried on clothes & quick with an "oh you look great mommy!"). Then we sat and had some ice cream and of course she had to ride the carousel. That's where it hit me. How many more years would she want to ride the carousel? Would this be her last year for build a bear? How can she be eight already? Everybody say they grow up so fast, but it's true. So I need to cherish these moments. While she is still little, and still thinks I'm the coolest person she knows.

A friend of mine commented on a picture of Waverly that I had posted earlier in the week, she said Waverly was very photogenic. Indeed true, but the poor girl never had a chance did she? I realized how tolerant of me she is yesterday. We were sitting on a bench just waiting and I was of course trying to get a photo of her and I'm telling her "put your arm like this. tilt your chin down. look over my shoulder. sit up straight." all of which she did just as I instructed her to. What a good girl.

Today we got to see Tom's friend Kevin race his car over in Waterloo. I know nothing about the specifics of these types of cars or racing but it was fun to get some pictures. I'm hoping next time they are in town it's a little warmer outside.

Motherly advice

I'm all about little random posts lately, lol. This is my motherly advice regarding your post flu diets.
Wav & I are off on our shopping adventure today. It's a beautiful day in Grundy County that's for sure!!!!

April Fool's Day

Gosh it was nice to get outside tonight. It was still chilly but the sun was shinning and there is virtually no snow on the ground (unlike our neighbors to the north!).

It can be hard to get a picture of Waverly as she is always talking or moving.

This may be the last year for this bike. Oh who am I fooling I'll be buying a new bike before school is out.
So now i wait for my tree to bloom... soon!!!!!
