One is the loneliest number

I love Halloween! Every year I dress the kids up, we take as many pictures as we can before it gets too dark and we brave the cold and wet in search of the best candy within a 5 block radius!

But this year it was all different. Yes, I got to dress them up but because of the extended daylight savings time it was light until almost 6:oo pm so we weren't fighting the impending darkness. And there was no cold to brave, no dampness or even rain. It had been in the 70's all day. They didn't have to wear their winter coats and snow pants under their costumes. They actually went with out jackets. But most importantly I did not go out with them. I was left at home. I didn't know what to do with myself. I watched them walk down the street and out of my sight and then sadly sat on the couch. I guess it was inevitable that they would grow up and go out trick or treating on their own.

I finally got a call about 6:45 that they were way up on Valley drive. Way across town! I happily drove up and found them ringing the last few bell. Their bags were over flowing and they were pooped. And they had a great time and I came to terms with the fact that I was no longer needed, for trick or treating anyway.... yet another milestone.

I guess even Jason Voorhies has to keep in touch with his peeps, lol!
